Ryan Relyea was born in Santa Cruz, California, and although he would like to think he's a west coast guy at heart, he was raised in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. His parents instilled a strong appreciation for the arts from an early age, and at 6 years old he began piano lessons. The piano was soon replaced by the drums, and Ryan has been in jazz bands, symphonies, rock bands, marching and pep bands, and pit orchestras for the last 20 years. In the process of pursuing a role with the Blue Man Group some years ago, Ryan began acting classes at Act One studios, where he learned to hone a different art. He has appeared in various short works including a music video and a Columbia College student film. While he was enrolled at Act One, he was befriended by Grant Stokes and quickly enlisted in the country/folk band Crooked Willow. Ryan continues to be an avid drummer, although he now splits his creative time between acting and music.
