Crooked Willow was created by Grant Stokes, Ryan Relyea, David Golan, Ali Goodman and Hamid Assian, all musicians living in Chicago. Much of their musical heart was rooted in Bluegrass, Country and Folk music, and influenced by Patti Griffin, Jimmy LaFave Ryan Adams , Johnny Cash, Emilou Harris and many others. The lyrics written by Grant Stokes are stories of the heart and loss. Crooked Willow just released its first CD, and a group of new songs is scheduled to come out this winter.
The band came together to try to do something a little different in Chicago, and has been warmly received around town, playing at Reggies Rock Club, Underground, Wonderbar and amongst others. The music is also slated for the backdrop of “Fall Away".
Grant Stokes and original back up singer Erin Gelletta are gay and proud to be singing about their experiences
